COCHLEAR IMPLANT AWARENESS, EDUCATION, INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FOR ADULTS

The Pindrop Foundation is the charitable subsidiary of the Northern Cochlear Implant Trust (NCIT) and has the same trustees. They work closely together to raise awareness, advocate and fund initiatives that promote improved access to Cochlear Implant technology for adults.

Such initiatives have included the Lean Project, the funding of professional development and consumer activities.

The role of NCIT is to govern and administer the government contract for the delivery of cochlear implant services in the Northern region of New Zealand. Under the terms of this contract, 120 adults a year receive an implant, with children receiving bilateral implants.

We continue to work collaboratively with cochlear implant recipients and providers to improve access to cochlear implant technology for all those adults who need one.

The following infographic gives an overview of the two entities, their roles and achievements.
