LOOKING AHEAD, OUR ASPIRATIONS FOR AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND ARE BOLD AND UNWAVERING.
WE ENVISION A FUTURE WHERE:
Cochlear Implants For Single-Sided Deafness Gets Funded: Recognizing SSD as a significant impairment, we advocate for government and insurance support for cochlear implants for individuals with SSD, ensuring they have the opportunity to experience the world in all its auditory richness.
Bilateral Cochlear Implants for Adults: We push for normalising bilateral cochlear implantation for adults, understanding the profound difference it can make in achieving optimal hearing outcomes, enhancing spatial awareness, and improving quality of life.
Continued Innovation and Access: We aspire to keep pace with technological advancements in cochlear implantation, ensuring that all New Zealanders can access the latest and most effective treatments.
A CALL TO ACTION
Cochlear Implant Day is not only a day of celebration but also a call to action. It is an opportunity to unite as a community, share stories, educate, and advocate for the changes we wish to see. The Pindrop Foundation is committed to leading the charge, but we need the support of individuals, families, healthcare professionals, and policymakers alike.
Together, we can make a future where hearing loss is no longer a barrier to living a whole and vibrant life. Let's continue to push boundaries, challenge the status quo, and ensure that every New Zealander who could benefit from a cochlear implant has the opportunity to do so. Our mahi is far from over, but with each Cochlear Implant Day, we move closer to a world where sound is accessible.
